What is network connectivity?

network connectivity

Cloud computing, the connected enterprise, big data and the industrial Internet of Things (IoT)

What do these all have in common? Network connectivity.

If you peel away the big, complicated names, the core of each of these things is the same.

What is network connectivity?

Network connectivity enables you to access, collect, share and utilise data across your enterprise. It also means communicating with more of your enterprise. Connected collaboration taps into smart machine and device technology to help organisations make better business decisions (or in some cases, makes decisions automatically).

Network connectivity in business

Connectivity is at the core of every successful business. It touches everything we do, from the first email of the day through to the final phone call of the evening.

So, having the right connectivity is essential.

At SDT, we understand how important it is to have high-speed connectivity direct to your office premises. Through our affiliated company Hosts Unlimited, we offer a range of connectivity services to meet almost any business requirement.

We pride ourselves on being able to deliver connectivity when and where it’s needed, via our partners networks that spans across the UK. We can provide internet connections, layer 2 data centre connections, or even a dedicated private line between two office locations. By utilising our network and partnerships we can frequently reach those areas that traditional broadband is unable to.

Services that we can provide are:

Broadband

Is delivered over a phone line and offers you the capabilities to upload and download data. Because it is delivered via the telephony infrastructure broadband is widely available and delivers download speeds of up to 24 Mb/s.

FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet)

Is delivered over an analogue line to the building but takes advantage of high-speed fibre connections to a cabinet close to your premises. This removes all the loss characteristics of long copper lines back to the exchange, enabling download speeds of up to 80MB.

Leased lines

If your business depends on a synchronous and dedicated connection to the internet, then a fibre leased line is the premium choice for reliability, security, speed and throughput. A fibre leased line is a dedicated connection delivered directly to your premises from the local exchange, providing robust, reliable and guaranteed performance, irrespective of the line’s length. It is the ideal option for businesses that regard reliable, high-speed internet access as mission-critical across both voice and data.

EFM (Ethernet First Mile)

Is an affordable means of achieving guaranteed symmetrical speeds using broadband while providing an Ethernet handover interface. The service is delivered via multiple copper telephone lines, usually bundled, to deliver a single symmetric service.

Layer 2 and MPLS circuits

MPLS delivers an affordable, reliable and highly secure, private network solution to optimise Wide Area Networks (WAN) and unify communications across geographically diverse office locations. MPLS will enable customers to easily connect and communicate efficiently between each site as part of a single network. It delivers multiple levels of QoS (Quality of Service) as standard, to provide optimised network performance, so you can be sure you’re always getting the best from your business connectivity as we seamlessly prioritise critical data.
